Bob Dylan's (new) pet project is setting music to lyrics from songs Hank Williams, Sr. never finished and he's been plowing the music industry for helpers. Willie Nelson and Lucinda Williams are aboard the project. White Stripe front man and Loretta Lynn patron Jack White is also lending notes and he says you can add Alan Jackson to the mix. A Stereogum write-up has more on the thingie, and notes that Norah Jones is on board, too, maybe.
Whistlin' Dixie: A real estate developer is hoping to plop a Branson-type entertainment municipality into the heart of Dixie. Country Crossing would be located near Dothan. I dunno about signature theaters, but a number of performers have already agreed to bring their restaurants to the new town, including Tracy Lawrence, Darryl Worley, John Anderson and Lorrie Morgan. Ronnie Gilley, the executive spearheading the project, is an aspiring country artist with new music out via a deal with Bandit Records. He also appeared in Tracy's "Find Out Who Your Friends Are" video, perhaps prompting the singer to bring his BBQ joint to town.
Greybeards: Jimmy Buffet and James Taylor are touring again, thereby stimulating the economy.
