The kids over at NBC must've been reading the ratings sheet for CMT's "Gone Country" because the Peacock has tapped "GC" czar John Rich to act as an "judge/mentor" when the competition moves to NBC from USA Network.
And Julio Iglesias, Jr. might want to consider "Cat's in the Cradle" as a follow-up to his country debut, because his patron will also write and produce the single for this year's "Nashville Star" winner.
"Star" shines this summer on NBC, debuting June 9 with Billy Ray Cyrus hosting.
Meanwhile, "Nashville Star" auditions are underway and continue in Washington, D.C. on Friday, next Tuesday and Wednesday in Austin and March 21 and 22 in Nashville.
Jackson Family Honors: Alan Jackson's new album bowed on top of the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart with 119,000 copies sold (besting the new Janet Jackson album). His previous effort, "Like Red on a Rose," bloomed in the fourth slot when it debuted on the chart, despite selling 149,000 copies.
Spit Take: The Comedy Central Roast of Willie Nelson has been postponed, dammit.
Dolly Partin': Dolly's back problems, which postponed her tour, are to blame again as she cancels her SXSW appearance.
Siriusly: XM satellite radio is dedicating an entire channel to George Strait.
Thinkin' About Stew: Ahead of the release of Trisha Yearwood's cookbook, GAC chats her up on vittles she makes for her old man.
In honor of Trisha's effort, here's this clip:
