SWEETHEART OF THE RODEO (Items on Emmylou Harris, Charlie Daniels, Clint Black, Paul Brandt)

Emmylou Harris will release her first set of new music in five years on June 10, Billboard reports. "All I Intended to Be" will include the talents of Seldom Scene lead singer John Starling and Kate and Anna McGarrigle (They're Canadian, which is a thread in this post, kids).
Starling joins Emmylou on "Old Five and Dimers," a ditty Emmylou says she's finally ready to tackle. "I finally decided that I was old enough to cut that song, reaching the grand ole age of 60," she said.
Ahead of that (April 27), she'll join the Country Music Hall of Fame.

Hickory Stump Speech:
You know who can't stand a video game that features "The Devil Down to Georgia?" Charlie Daniels, that's who.

Circus of the Stars: After George Takei's version of "On the Road Again" on CBS' "Secret Talents of the Stars," ...um...underwhelmed...judges Brian McKnight and Debbie Reynolds were charitable, while Gavin Polone (The Simon Cowell/bad cop judge) called it a "Brokeback Mountain" version of the ditty and said George would have to work to "de-suck-ify" himself.
Clint Black, meanwhile, after being coached on yuks by Garry Shandling, got sweeps across the board from da judges, including Polone.
At the end of the show, George Takei was voted off and Clint and figure skater Sasha Cohen (wasn't she "Borat?") passed muster to live another week on the show.

"Risk" Taker:
Paul Brandt's "Risk" was the Country winner at Sunday's Canadian Juno Awards.

Everything He Do: If you want to know where the songs that most "American Idol" hopefuls will audition with next year will come from, the answer is Walmart.
