Tour mates Rascal Flatts and Taylor Swift were making news this week, separately (and together as their trek just grew by a few dates).
Gary, Joe Don and Jay will release their first greatest hits collection on October 28. Initially, it will come in a "foil-embossed," limited-edition, 2-CD package. The extra platter will contain three Christmas ditties the boys just recorded; the "Greatest Hits Volume 1" platter itself will come bearing 13 of their chart monsters.
Taylor's "Fearless" CD lands November 11 and you can belly up to the bar with your cash now and pre-order your copy at her TheTaylorNation website. Y'all can pay $75 bucks (!) and get your kisser planted on a mosiac that will be included in the album's packaging, as well as a bunch of Swift li'l chachkis, plus the CD. For $40, you get immortalized on the CD and the disc itself. For $13.88 ($10.99 digital) you can get the CD (You know, in case you want to listen to it...and are camera-shy).
Not-to-be-included on the mosaic: The Boot's Photo of the Week, capturing Taylor waving a wiener in NYC while filming a cameo in a Jonas Brothers music video. Her appearance in The Apple sparked rumors that she was dating the lead Jonas, a fire that she quickly put out.
While Taylor's fans are co-opting the "Fearless" title track for their creative purposes, Taylor and her label don't mind...but her management? Not so much.
Before the whole Taylor team gets ahead of themselves with "Fearless," they're still mining gold with her debut album, as "Should've Said No" remains atop the Country Singles chart for another week.
Meanwhile, you can enter here to win tickets to Taylor's upcoming "CMT Crossroads" session with Def Leppard.
Now That's Country: Marty Stuart is set to beam into your TV set. The singer will host an eponymous music series soon on RFD-TV. Guests will join Marty and wife Connie Smith on the series, which will also feature "Outsiders Inn-sider" Leroy Troy.
The "show will remind people of those half-hour country music shows from the past," Marty told Pulaskinews.net, "I’m thankful to RFD-TV for believing in this type of family entertainment. This show is going to be a lot of fun.”
Bait Shop: A writer scores an interview with Mark Chesnutt and the singer goes all Babe Winkelman on him.
Caveat Emptor: A Hopkinsville, Kentucky radio station attempted to clear some space and make some money by selling off their vinyl album library. One vinyl collector came looking for the album pictured on the left here. Speaking as a 20-year radio veteran who owns a zillion old radio-worn albums, I give a warning to buyers: Beware of cue burns.
Coda: Kenny Rogers celebrated a birthday this week, so...just because, ...there's this.
